Greetings to all from SCERT! As Director of this premier institute of Research
and Training, the focus shall be to work for the enhancement of human and material
resources in our schools. As a first step towards this, training and thereby
empowering of teachers is the major role of the SCERT. If excellence in school
education is our aim, then the task of teacher training needs to be taken very
With the implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009, the role of
SCERT as the State Academic Authority assumes greater challenges and prospects.
We need to make inroads for bringing about positive changes in mindset and
attitude along with physical and infrastructural reforms. As we carry out our
tasks of curriculum development and planning, In-service and Pre Service training
of teachers, we have to keep in mind the developmental process and patterns
of the target group namely our students. Modernization and globalization have
necessitated us to change the way we look at the teaching learning process.
The emphasis now is to develop soft skills rather than just impart knowledge
and grade students. Value Education, Moral Science, Gender Equality, Pride
for the Nation and Inclusive Education must be engrained into the day to day
schooling program and become the way of life for all of us.
At the SCERT, it will be our effort to slowly but steadily incorporate these
aspects into the curriculum, assessment and training. It will also be our endeavor
to bring back the glory to this noble task of teaching and meaningfully contribute
to the holistic development of the young children in our schools.
With warm regards,
