Shri. Manish Sisodia Deputy Chief Ministry today released Delhi Statistical Hand Book -2015 prepared by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. This handbook contains data relating to various socio-economic parameters in 23 broad chapters.
Shri. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister informed that, Delhi has the highest per capita income of ` 240849/- among all the states during 2014-15. It has increased by` 28630/-in comparison to 2013-14.
The Total number of new vehicles registered in Delhi increased from 5.19 lakhs in 2013-14 to 5.34 lakhs in 2014-15. The total number of registered vehicles in Delhi during 2014-15 is 88.27 lakhs. Out of total registered vehicles, the number of Cars/ Jeeps is 27.91 lakhs and Motorcycles/ Scooters is 56.81 lakhs. The DTC services were availed by around 38.87 lakhs daily average passengers during 2014-15. The fleet of DTC buses is 4705 out of which 1275 are air conditioned.
The number of mobile phones in Delhi as on December’2014 were 4.54 crore as compared to 4.26 crore in December’2013. The landline phones have also increased from 31.04 lakhs in December 2013 to 31.23 lakh in December 2014.
The consumption of IMFL in Delhi increased from 1.18 crore cases in 2013-14 to 1.21 crore cases in 2014-15. However, the consumption of Indian beer has slightly reduced from 1.10 crore cases in 2013-14 to 1.06 crore cases in 2014-15. The consumption of Country Liquor also reduced from 28.93 lakh cases to 25.38 lakh cases during the same period.
The number of cinema theatres including multiplexes have increased from 151 in 2013 to 157 in 2014. Average number of cine goers per day increased from 1.15 lakhs in 2013 to 1.23 lakhs in 2014-15.

The total number of consumers of electricity increased from 48.97 lakhs in 2013-14 to 50.44 lakhs in 2014-15. Out of total electricity consumers, 40.95 lakhs were domestic, 8.51 lakhs commercial and 52731 industrial. The consumption of electricity increased from 23781 million units in 2013-14 to 24477 million units in 2014-15.
As regards water, the number of metered connection increased from 16.02 lakhs in 2013-14 to 18.63 lakh in 2014-15. The water consumption also increased from 13837 lakh kilo litres in 2013-14 to 14085 lakh kilo litres in 2014-15. The per capita consumption of water in Delhi is 48 gallons per day.
As per the handbook, there are 1058 health institutions with 45,885 beds in Delhi as on 31st December 2014. There are 225 maternity and child welfare centres with 440 beds and 716 Allopathic, 259 Ayurvedic/ Unani & 171 Homeopathic dispensaries in Delhi.
The total number of schools in Delhi was 5798 in 2014-15 as compared to 5453 during 2013-14 registering an increase of 345 schools. Around 44.13 lakh children were enrolled at different levels during 2014-15 in these schools as compared to 43.86 lakhs during 2013-14. Out of 44.13 lakhs, enrolled students up to Sr. Secondary school level, 23.52 lakhs were boys and 20.61 lakhs were girl students.
Average number of beneficiaries of old age pension was 3.32 lakhs in 2014-2015. Under Ladli scheme 1.85 lakhs girls got financial benefits during 2014-15. Financial Assistance was given to 41043 disabled persons during 2014-15.
