Chief Minister directs immediate availability of medicines in Delhi government hospitals

  • Report presented to CM shows in some hospitals less than 50 % medicines are currently available
  • CM to conduct surprise checks in government hospitals to ensure availability of medicines and functional equipments

Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday took strong exception to the non-availability of medicines and consumables in some Delhi government hospitals and directed the Chief Secretary to ensure 100 % availability of these articles at the earliest.

The Chief Minister has also received complaints about X-Ray and CT Scan machines not functioning properly in some government hospitals.

The Chief Minister has expressed strong displeasure at not being provided regular reports about the status of availability of medicines and consumables, despite clear directions having been given to the Chief Secretary on 6th April that a written report be submitted to him on 1st and 15th of every month.

The first report presented to the Chief Minister shows that in some hospitals less than 50 % medicines are available and details about the status of equipments and consumables are still awaited.

Report shows 33 % availability of medicines in Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hospital (Patel Nagar), 34 % in Guru Teg Bhadur (GTB) Hospital, 36 % in Ch. Braham Prakash Ayurvedic Charak Sansthan, Khera Dabur, 44 % in Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini and 46 % Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital

The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to take all necessary steps to ensure 100 % availability of medicines and consumables in all Delhi government hospitals and to ensure proper functioning of all necessary equipments.

The Chief Minister will conduct surprise inspections of government hospitals to ensure that patients and their families do not face any hardships due to non-availability of medicines and equipments for which the Delhi government has already made all financial provisions.
