Welcome to the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The Department was established in 1962 and discharges the important responsibilities of managing the Public Distribution of, and trade and commerce in essential commodities with a view to maintain or increase supplies thereof and secure their equitable distribution and availability at fair prices by enforcing the Essential Commodities act, 1955 and various Control Orders made thereunder.

The consumer Affairs Wing of the department provides for better protection of interest of consumers by setting up State Commission and district for a for redressal of consumers disputes, as provided under the consumer Protection Act, 1986.

The Weights and Measures wing, which is also a part of the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, is engaged in regulating use of correct weighing and measuring instruments in production, trade and commerce to ensure that exact weight, measure and number of any commodity is provided to any customer as contracted for, or paid for hi him. It also safeguards consumer interest by ensuring mandatory declarations on packaged commodities. 

NEW INITIATIVES

Recently, to achieve end to end Computerization of Public Distribution System(PDS) in Delhi, ePDS portal was launched by Hon'ble Minister of Food and Supplies Sh. Haroon Yusuf Ji on 07/12/2011. This has introduced much needed transparency in PDS as new portal has brought following information in Public domain:   

1. FPS wise card linkage.
   
2. FPS wise monthly allocation.
   
3. Card wise Entitlement.

SMS ALERTS REGARDING DISPATCH OF RATION TO FPS

Recently in order to computerize Supply Chain Management of PDS operations, sugar offtake module has been implemented in Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation. SMS alert is being sent to Vigilance Committee headed by the Hon’ble MLA of the area, Concerned FSO , Inspectors and card holders who have registered with our website, as and when sugar is dispatched from sugar godown.

Gender Resource Center (GRC)-Suvidha Kendra

Delhi Citizen can now submit their application forms relating to ration card services at 98 Samajik Suvidha Sangam Kendras (GRC-SK's) in addition to the 70 circle offices of Department of Food & Supplies. This has increased our existing front end offices from 70 to 168. These services will be available on all working days.
